I cant seem to find a generic wait function anywhere? I can find waits related to global timers or finding patterns etc, but what about a simply "wait 5 seconds"?

That's macro.pause: viewtopic.php?f=166&t=370

macro.pause is time-based (in milliseconds); so what you asked would be macro.pause("5000"). The others you referred to are waiting for something specific (besides time) to happen or appear like color, images, functions to execute, etc.

There are some guides/tutorials if you do a forum search. Here's a link to some videos: viewtopic.php?f=111&t=22190 and there's one on "stopwatches". He starts to use macro.pause, but then decides to use humanly.pause which is another one similar to what your asking...stopwatches are along those lines too, but may not be as helpful right now.
