Post subject:  Changes to the Forum and Contribution Points

Hi everyone,

Today I am very happy to announce another forum upgrade.

Changes include:
  • A "Thank you" button next to each post in the forum.
  • Number of times a post has been thanked.
  • Number of times a user has been thanked.
  • Number of times a user has thanked someone else.

How it works:
Whenever you find a post helpful, please click the "Thank you" button to show your appreciation.
The user who made the post will then receive the thanks, and also be awarded a number of Contribution points automatically.

The number of Contribution Points awarded will vary depending on how many users already thanked the same post, the more thanks, the more points per thanks.
1 click on "Thank you" will award between 1 and 5 points to the author.

Other users will be able to see how many times you have thanked someone else - make sure to show your appreciation to those who put a great deal of effort into creating very helpful and informative posts, or perhaps helped you solve a problem.

Contribution point changes
The number of points awarded for creating a post has been decreased from 6 to 3 (varies depending on the section of the forum you are posting in).

This will help lower the amount of "spam-posts" on the forum from users only interested in creating just enough posts to get a free license.

How about cheating the Thanks-system to "earn" points?
Every button can only be clicked once, and will hereafter be hidden - meaning you can only thank the same post once.
In addition to that, every click on a "Thank you" button is logged, and it is possible to detect any foul-play - any attempts will be met with a wipe of contribution points / potential ban.

Enjoy the new features, and don't forget to show your appreciation the next time someone helps you out or posts something generally helpful.

Thank you
